Artist Statement

The art that I make is primarily 2D. I focus a great amount of my work on digital and film photography. I have been interested in photography for the past 10 years, however recently I have been experimenting with other materials. For a long time I have also been interested in sewing. My specialty is making pocket books. Another thing I love to make is duct tape wallets. My wallets consist of snaps, buttons and zippers. I have also been known to use fabric along with tape. I enjoy the juxtaposition of materials. I once made a dress out of silk and duct tape. I enjoy experimenting with materials and I am excited to enter a new phase in my art and begin using new materials.

studio exploration final project

I have never worked with video before but for some reason I really wanted to use it for this project. Unfortunately I do not have a great camera with video so this was the best quality I could get. The studio explorations project was about space. I chose to explore the literal space around me. I video taped things that surround me everyday.

appropriate classroom attire

I like this jacket however it seems as though it might be difficult to clean and i am sure that it will be getting dirty very quickly. I also do not believe that the purple shirt underneath is appropriate because the neck line is a little too low.

Simple lack pants seem like a must have

simple black collared shirt would be nice however this seems to be an expensive fabric. it seems like it might wrinkle and need to be dry cleaned. But a more cotton version of this shirt.

Another simple black pair of pants

I chose this shirt because of the color. I like that it is bright because I think children would enjoy that.

I like these because they are simple and yet they have detail to them. And since they are black they will match most outfits.

Trimmis and Savva reading

I thought that the reading was quite interesting. The study was very imformatative because it showed the comparison between 3 different schools and how all of the children reacted the same way to the lesson and once they learned new materials they wanted to explore them even further. Out of curiosity something I was thinking about was what if a child doesn't learn the same way? How would you encourage a child to be productive and join the group in participating in the group if they are not interested in it?

studio exploration

While thinking about my studio exploration project I believe I have decided to make a video documentation. I have explored a little bit of video and would like to continue working with it. I am not sure of the location I want to use. As of right now I am thinking about my apartment because it has been a place of great comfort and a place in which I have learned a lot in the past year that I have been living here. It is however not a place I could do research on. The location has not been completely decided on.

reflecting on group discussion

In our group we discussed many different tactics on classroom learning. A major factor which we talked about was the fact that the children all come from different backgrounds and lifestyles and that they all learn in their own unique way. You can not treat every child the same because everyone does not learn the same. You have to be sensitive to every child needs and work with them accordingly to help them. Another item that was brought up in out group discussion was that you have to take into consideration the changing times in a classroom. We live in an expanding era of technology and we can utilize that in a classroom setting to our advantage.
